Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Community Checkpoint (30th June 2026)
Ubisoft walks back Dokkaebi's overcorrection, refines Ranked 3.0 after early clustering issues, and brings back 1v1 with five maps instead of three.

Ubisoft spent Community Checkpoint #3 doing something refreshing: admitting when a rework goes too far. Dokkaebi's redesign, nearly two years in the making, landed so strong that she needed immediate tuning. Update 2.1 introduces a global cooldown on her Jegeo Payload, with 2.2 shifting to per-target cooldowns for better counterplay. By Season 3, defenders like Mute and Tubarao will be able to interrupt her signal entirely, a meaningful shift that keeps her identity intact without letting her dominate.
Ranked 3.0's early problems are getting addressed too. Placement matches didn't feel weighty enough, and rank clustering in higher tiers wasn't the long-term vision. Ubisoft has already rolled out minimum RP gains and fairness adjustments to prevent progression from stalling. Champion rank remains locked behind consistent performance over time, not a lucky placement streak, which is the right call for competitive integrity.
The 1v1 playlist returns midseason with five maps instead of three, faster pacing, and a new Attrition system replacing operator bans. Calypso Casino taught them that flooding the map pool kills variety, so they're finding better ways to introduce new content without sacrificing the broader experience. Full patch notes cover the specifics.

RAINBOW SIX SIEGE COMMUNITY CHECKPOINT RECAP: RANKED 3.0, DOKKAEBI UPDATES & MORE
RANKED 3.0: EARLY ADJUSTMENTS & PLAYER FEEDBACK
Following the rollout of Ranked 3.0, the team addressed several key topics raised by the community, focusing on clarity, fairness, and long-term competitive integrity.
Placement Matches & Progression
Placements this season were designed to reveal a player's existing skill level from the previous system, Ranked 2.0, where ranking was tied to hidden MMR. The goal was to make that skill level visible again at the start of the season. However, the team acknowledged that placements didn't feel impactful enough for many players. Adjustments are already planned so placement matches will carry more weight in determining starting rank in future seasons.
Champion Rank Philosophy
Champion is intended to represent sustained, high-level performance and not a short snapshot at the start of a season. Because of this, players cannot place directly into Champion. Instead, it must be earned through consistent performance over time in a constantly evolving competitive environment that includes new operators, maps, and balancing updates.
KDA and Rank
KDA is not a factor in rank progression. Siege prioritizes teamwork and impact, where roles like support, intel gathering, and utility usage can be just as impactful as eliminations. The system is designed to reward winning as a team rather than individual stat performance.
Rank Distribution
Players highlighted issues with rank distribution early in the season, particularly clustering in higher ranks. This is not intended for long-term experience, and future adjustments to placement matches aim to create clearer separation between ranks and improve matchmaking quality.
System Improvements Already in Progress
The team has already implemented several updates based on feedback and live data:
- Minimum Rank Point gains were introduced to prevent progression from feeling stalled
- RP fairness adjustments to ensure players in the same match lose and gain points more consistently
- Ongoing tuning to improve transparency, fairness, and trust in the system
These changes are part of an ongoing effort to refine Ranked 3.0 over time.
DOKKAEBI BALANCING UPDATES
The Dokkaebi remaster has been one of the most discussed changes this season. The team revealed that her redesign was the result of nearly two years of iteration, ultimately requiring a full rework of her balancing tools. While the new design successfully addressed long-standing issues, it also led to an overcorrection to restore her impact, resulting in her current strength level. Below you can find what's being done to address this both now and moving forward:
Short-Term Adjustments
Incremental updates are being deployed this season:
- Update 2.1: Introduces a global cooldown on her Jegeo Playload to reduce spam
- Update 2.2: Moves to a per-target cooldown system, allowing better control and counterplay
Future Counterplay Improvements
Looking ahead to Season 3, Dokkaebi's ability will shift to a signal-based system:
- Defenders like Mute and Tubarao will be able to interrupt the signal
- If the signal is not interrupted, then the payload will then be delivered and the phone will explode.
These changes aim to maintain her identity as a powerful attacker while improving counterplay and fairness.
The team also noted that the new seasonal content cadence allows for faster and more responsive balancing updates throughout a season.
CALYPSO CASINO: LEARNING FROM PLAYER EXPERIENCE
The team also discussed that the introduction of Calypso Casino provided valuable insights into how new maps are integrated into Ranked.
Balancing Variety and Exposure
While featuring Calypso heavily ensured players experienced the new content, it also reduced overall map variety, something players clearly missed. The team is now exploring alternative ways to encourage engagement with new maps without limiting variety across the playlist.
Tips for Learning New Maps
Players looking to improve their map knowledge can take advantage of:
- Clear House mode
- Landmark drills
- Community-created guides and content
The team also confirmed ongoing discussions around improving tools to help players learn maps when they are first introduced.
1v1 PLAYLIST RETURNS
The 1v1 Playlist is making a comeback at the midway point of Season 2, following strong engagement and positive feedback from players.
Player Feedback & Improvements
Feedback from surveys highlighted clear priorities for the mode:
- A more competitive experience
- Reduced downtime between rounds
- Greater map variety
- Improved pacing and systems
These insights directly shaped the next iteration.
What's New in the Next Iteration
- Expanded map pool (from 3 to 5 maps)
- Improved matchmaking
- Faster pacing with reduced prep time and clearer objectives
- New Attrition system replacing operator bans
- Improvements to overall match flow and variety
Looking Ahead
While a Ranked version of 1v1 isn't included yet, it remains one of the most requested features. The team is focusing on refining the core experience first before introducing a competitive layer.
FEEDBACK CONTINUES TO SHAPE SIEGE
Throughout the discussion, the dev team reinforced that player feedback remains central to ongoing updates. From Ranked adjustments to playlist improvements, community input, paired with live data, continues to guide development priorities.
