Editorial Standards

XP Gained is an independent gaming site run by Nathan Lees from the United Kingdom. It is not owned by or affiliated with any game publisher, developer or platform holder.

We are open about this because you should be able to judge what you are reading. XP Gained uses an automated pipeline to monitor official sources, and articles are drafted with AI assistance and published under editorial rules set by a human.

Patch notes.We monitor official developer channels — Steam announcements, publisher blogs and official forums. When an update ships, we write a short summary of what changed and, where the developer publishes one, reproduce the official changelog beneath it with clear attribution and a link to the source. The changelog is the developer's work, not ours, and we label it as such.

Gaming news.Stories are assembled from multiple independent outlets, cross-referenced to find the primary source (an official statement, blog post or filing), and written with that primary source cited. Where a story turns on someone's exact words, we quote them verbatim rather than paraphrasing.

• Every factual claim about a story must appear in the cited source material.
• We link to the primary source wherever one exists. If a link would not support the claim attached to it, we remove the link rather than mislead you.
• We do not link a source we have not verified resolves, and we do not attribute a statement to an outlet or platform unless that is genuinely where it appeared.
• We do not invent quotes, player reactions or community responses.

We do not claim to have played, installed or independently tested every update we cover. Where an article expresses an opinion or an assessment, it is exactly that — our reading of the change, not a review based on hands-on time. If we have played something, we say so explicitly.

Drafts are checked automatically before they go live. Articles are held back for human review when a check fails — including source-similarity that is too close to the original reporting, unverifiable links, unsupported numeric claims, and date or version inconsistencies. Held articles are not published until they are fixed or discarded.

We correct errors. If you spot a mistake — a wrong version number, a misattributed quote, a link that does not support the claim, or anything else — tell us and we will fix it or remove the article.

Substantive corrections are made to the article itself and the modification date is updated. Contact us via our Discord or @xp_gained.

XP Gained carries advertising, served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no input into what we cover or what we say about it. We do not accept payment for coverage, and we do not publish sponsored posts disguised as editorial.

Patch notes reproduced on this site remain the property of their respective developers and publishers, and are shown with attribution and a link to the original. If you are a rights holder and would prefer we did not reproduce your changelog, contact us and we will remove it.
