Enshrouded Update 8: Gear & Progression Changes

Enshrouded's Update 8, Forging the Path, lands on April 21st, and Keen Games is making sure players know exactly what's coming before it does. Today's developer update is the second in a series of pre-launch deep dives, this one focused on gear and progression, including what sounds like a meaningful rework of the skill tree.

Senior game designer Christoph walks through the changes in a video posted alongside the official announcement, and the skill tree revisions in particular look like they could shift how you approach character builds from the ground up. Keen has been transparent about their roadmap throughout Early Access, and this kind of pre-patch communication is exactly how you keep a player base engaged rather than anxious.

Update 8 is also being framed as a stepping stone toward Enshrouded's full release this Autumn, so how well these systems land will matter beyond just this patch. A third and final video is due Thursday. The complete notes are below.

As we mentioned in our last announcement, Update 8, Forging the Path, is releasing on April 21st! This update will be a stepping stone towards the biggest update of them all: the full release of Enshrouded this Autumn.

Today we're posting the second part of our deep dive into how we're improving the game with Update 8. This time, we're going into detail about how we're reworking and improving some of our existing gear and progression systems, including some big changes to the skill tree!
