Apex Legends players recently faced a setback as Respawn Entertainment issued an apology for account resets and lost progress following a mishap in a recent game update. The studio acknowledged reports of account resets on Tuesday and immediately began investigating the issue, promising a resolution to affected players.

Shortly after acknowledging the problem, Respawn released an update to prevent further losses for players logging in after the fix. However, players who had already suffered from missing progress or content were advised to be patient as the studio worked on an additional fix to restore their accounts to the state prior to the update.

In a further update on Wednesday, Respawn confirmed that progress made during the previous day would be restored following a fix deployment. The studio also had to postpone the introduction of a new Ranked Split due to the ongoing situation.

Despite the challenges faced by Respawn and Apex Legends, including recent layoffs at the studio and a tournament postponement due to hacking incidents, the team is committed to improving the game's security and player experience. Respawn has started rolling out updates aimed at providing additional protection against potential threats.
