Respawn Entertainment, the talented developers behind popular games like Apex Legends, Titanfall, and the Star Wars Jedi series, recently faced a setback in the form of layoffs.

The unfortunate news came as part of a larger announcement from Electronic Arts (EA), indicating that they would be laying off 5% of their workforce. This decision had a direct impact on the Apex Legends team, leading to a number of layoffs within Respawn.

Expressing his dismay, level design Aaron Stump took to Twitter to share, "It sucks seeing some of the people I've worked with for almost 3 years now get let go. Hopefully, they land on their feet sooner rather than later."

Among those affected was Alex Ackerman, the global social media lead for Apex Legends. Ackerman shared her heartfelt sentiments, saying, "'After 20 Seasons of Apex and 5 years at Respawn nearly to the day, my job has been made redundant and I have been laid off,'" highlighting the impact the game and community had on her career.

While the exact number of individuals impacted by these layoffs remains unclear, the gaming community awaits further details from Respawn. Insider Gaming has already reached out to the studio for comment and will provide updates as soon as they become available.
