Phasmophobia v0.18.0.1 - Patch Notes (28th July 2026)
A week after the photo camera's debut, Phasmophobia v0.18.0.1 pulls back to fix the problems it introduced. Particularly its interference with other players' animations and a handful of multiplayer physics issues.

Last week's photo camera feature arrived with more friction than intended, and v0.18.0.1 is here to sand down the rough edges. The bulk of this patch addresses camera-specific problems that emerged in multiplayer. A critical context, since the camera's animation conflicts directly disrupted other players' ability to see what teammates were doing. That's not a cosmetic issue. In co-op ghost hunting, visual clarity about who's doing what is foundational to coordination.
The photo camera brought three distinct multiplayer problems. First, it was interfering with other players' animations entirely, meaning if one person was using the camera, nearby teammates saw broken or missing animations. Second, the camera's own use animation wasn't playing in multiplayer at all, leaving other players confused about what the camera user was actually doing. Third, the camera had a physics quirk where dropping it mid-shot would trigger an extra photo, and if another player picked it up immediately after, it would fire again. These aren't edge cases. They're ordinary multiplayer moments that would happen constantly in four-player sessions. The fixes here directly restore the visibility that made the camera feel broken in group play.
Beyond the camera, the patch addresses a broader multiplayer stability problem: items getting stuck or falling through the floor when dropped. This has been a recurring friction point in Phasmophobia's multiplayer for some time, and whilst the notes don't specify whether this was introduced by the camera update or predates it, the fix applies to all dropped items. For players in mid-investigation, equipment vanishing into geometry is a run-killer.
Ghost behaviour also received attention. An exploit where ghosts could occupy several hiding spots in 13 Willow Street has been closed, with similar fixes applied to 6 Tanglewood Drive, 42 Edgefield Road and 10 Ridgeview Court. The notes don't detail what made these spots exploitable, but the breadth of the fix across four maps suggests a systemic issue rather than isolated oversights. VR players get two stability improvements: unstable framerate in the Truck and a loading hang on Bleasdale Farmhouse in multiplayer sessions.
One cosmetic loss deserves mention: Twitch Drop reward cosmetics (an ID Card and Badge) were missing and are now restored. If you earned those drops, they'll appear in your inventory.
The known issues section flags a hotkey assignment problem that will persist until the next patch. When no flashlight is picked up, equipment hotkeys assign as 2, 3, 1; picking up a flashlight resets the primary to 1. A future update will reorder all equipment by pickup sequence instead, though igniters will always stay on 4. This is a minor UX friction that affects keybind consistency across runs, but it's acknowledged and scheduled for resolution.
