Two bugs, two fixes. Hotfix v0.17.1.5 is a small drop from Kinetic Games, but both issues were disruptive enough to warrant a same-week turnaround.

The bigger of the two is the Spirit Box softlock affecting controller players. Getting stuck mid-investigation because of a peripheral input bug is exactly kills a session, so getting that resolved quickly is the right call. The Voice Recognition fix for Steam players is equally important, that feature is core to how a lot of people play Phasmophobia, and losing it entirely would have made the game feel broken for a chunk of the PC playerbase. Kinetic Games notes that if Voice Recognition is still misbehaving after the update, you should check that your default microphone in Windows matches what the game expects.

Neither fix is flashy, but this is Kinetic Games doing exactly what a hotfix should do. The Spirit Box controller issue is the one to confirm resolved on your end.
