
Phasmophobia by Alan Wake - v0.17.1.0 Patch Notes (12th May 2026)
Phasmophobia's v0.17.1.0 update arrived alongside the Alan Wake collaboration, but the patch itself has caused enough problems that the developers have already issued a public apology.
The Alan Wake crossover was supposed to be a celebration, but the update that preceded it has overshadowed the whole thing. v0.17.1.0, which dropped on 12th May ahead of the collaboration going live, landed badly enough with players that Kinetic Games has already issued an apology and committed to fixes. That is not a great look for what should have been one of the game's bigger content moments.
I don't have full visibility into every complaint driving the backlash, but when a studio moves fast enough to apologise on the same day a patch ships, the issues are clearly not minor. Crossover launches are high-traffic moments and a rough patch right at that peak is the worst possible timing.
