Overwatch 2 (Legacy) Patch Notes (12th May 2026)
The 10th Anniversary patch brings hero balance across the board, a reworked Initiator subrole, and a community-driven lootbox event running until June 1.
Ten years of Overwatch gets a proper send-off with today's May 12 patch, and Blizzard has packed it with both celebration and some long-overdue balance work. The 10th Anniversary event runs until June 1, letting players complete challenges to earn Anniversary Lootboxes and contribute to a Global Community Progress Bar that upgrades weekly rewards from standard to Epic and Legendary boxes. Three weeks of era-specific Arcade cards round it out, starting with Overwatch Classic 2016.
On the balance side, the Initiator subrole has been reworked so it no longer procs passively while airborne. It now ties specifically to movement abilities like Winston's Jump Pack and D.Va's Boosters, which gives tank players actual control over when the healing kicks in rather than accidentally triggering it mid-air. The heal itself drops from 60 to 50 too. Kiriko's Protection Suzu also sees a notable shift: the 30 bonus healing on cleanse is gone, replaced by a brief invulnerability window that keeps counterplay like knockbacks intact. I think that's a cleaner design. Lucio's Sound Barrier gets trimmed from 750 overhealth to 625 and loses a full second of duration, which should make it feel less like a free fight reset.
Here's the full breakdown.
