Marathon Dev Update: Self-Revive Kit and Streamer Notes (12th May 2026)

Bungie is addressing one of Marathon's most-complained-about mechanics, with self-revive times getting a significant increase in update 1.0.9.

Self-reviving after being downed has been a point of frustration since Marathon launched, and Bungie is acting on it. In this dev update, the studio confirms that update 1.0.9 will extend self-revive times across the board, with the base time jumping from 12 seconds to 16, and the Revive Speed stat's ceiling dropping from 7 seconds to 12. That's a meaningful slowdown at both ends, and I think it's the right call, a near-instant revive in a tactical extraction shooter undercuts the whole point of downing someone.

Separately, a suite of streamer protection tools is on the way with Season 2. These include the ability to hide your name and your crew's names on screen, replace in-run names with generic ones across the kill feed and spectate view, and add a configurable matchmaking delay to make stream sniping harder. Bungie notes all of these features will be available to every player, not just content creators.

Self-Revive Kit Update, Coming with 1.0.9:

We’ve seen a lot of feedback that players’ ability to quickly revive after being downed during a fight is causing frustrations. When taking a look we felt that both the total time and contribution of the Revive Speed were too fast for the pace of tactical play we expect from Marathon.

In Update 1.0.9, we’re increasing the time it takes for a DBNO runner to self-revive with a Self-Revive kit and rebalancing how much benefit the Revive Speed stat grants you:

  • When the Revive Speed stat is at 0: 12s → 16s
  • When the Revive Speed stat is at 100: 7s → 12s

We'll continue to monitor conversations around this.

Tools for Streamers, coming with Season 2:

Creators, no matter what size your community is you should have more tools to keep yourself safe out there. With the launch of Season 2 we'll be doing some work to better help you protect yourself from would-be ne'er-do-wells - including:

  • The ability to hide you and your Crew’s names on your screen.
  • The ability to replace your in-run name with a generic one across places like pings, kill feed, death recap, and spectate.
  • The ability to replace other players’ names on your screen with generic names.
  • A configurable matchmaking delay to help make stream sniping harder.

And of course, the above will be available to all players.

We always want to do everything we can to ensure a fair and safe gameplay experience in Marathon.

Keep the feedback coming!
