Rifts are getting a complete redesign in Farever's newest public test patch. Gates replace kills as the core objective, and a new NPC trader opens up fresh reward paths.

Rifts in Farever are no longer about racking up nightling kills. The latest public test patch flips the entire mode into a timed gate-closing sprint, and it's a sharper design than what was there before.

Here's the shift: rifts now open every hour instead of every two hours, and once they do, you've got two minutes to locate and seal as many gates as possible. Three gates spawn at any given time; close one and another appears elsewhere. It's frantic, it's focused, and it ditches the slog of hunting individual enemies. The boss only arrives once your two minutes and gate-closing are done. Rewards now scale through threshold progression tied to gates you've closed, unlocking chest bonuses and unique items along the way.

The Demon Hunter, a new NPC in Ramburg, trades the fresh currencies, Demonic Souls, Nightblood, and Soulstones, for mounts, gliders, companions, gear, and weapon upgrades. Soulstones let you summon Nightlords in hidden spots for rarer drops and more Nightblood than rifts alone offer. A few other tweaks land here too: Robin Hoof's stun duration drops from 2 seconds to 1, and Maat Demon gets tougher per player with increased slam radius and doubled chaos-damage scaling.

The full breakdown, including the Worldsplitter VFX fix and movement synchronisation improvements, is below.
