Escape the Backrooms New Patch Now Live on All Notes (5th June 2026)
The co-op horror game's first major patch since its console launch addresses connection problems and voice comms that have plagued multiplayer sessions.

Escape the Backrooms just dropped patch 1.3.1 across all platforms, and it's squarely focused on fixing the multiplayer mess that's been frustrating players since the May 28 update. Voice chat dropping mid-session, connection issues in cross-platform lobbies, crashes when joining games, these were the big pain points, and the studio says they're tackling them head-on.
The patch also kills a softlock that was trapping players when joining in-progress cross-platform matches, fixes stuttering that was tanking performance, and patches a handful of other crashes. There's a new controller axis inversion setting too, which is a quality-of-life win for players who prefer their stick layout flipped. Not flashy, but necessary.
What stands out is the studio's honesty: they're acknowledging these multiplayer bugs are still being investigated and more fixes are coming. That's the right call, better to ship what's ready than pretend a patch solves everything when it doesn't. Check the full notes below to see what else changed.
