Don't Starve Together Game Update - 724783 Notes (24th April 2026)

WX-78 gets a full skill tree overhaul in Don't Starve Together's latest update, though console players will have to wait a few extra days for the Shadow Affinity branch.

WX-78 mains have been waiting, and update 724783 is finally their moment. Klei's latest Don't Starve Together patch, which dropped on Steam yesterday, adds the full WX-78 Skill Tree alongside an expanded Circuit system bumped up to 3 bars and several new Circuits to slot in.

One catch: Shadow Affinity, part of the new skill tree, is locked for now. Klei says they weren't satisfied with where it landed and have held it back to polish it further, with a hotfix planned in the next few days. Console players are looking at Monday before they even get the base update, since a separate build is needed to keep the incomplete branch out. It's a bit of an awkward rollout, but I'd rather Klei pull a feature than ship something half-finished.

Elsewhere, the Year of the Clockwork Knight event is now over, so Clockwork follower limits are back in effect: 2 per type for most characters, 3 for WX-78. A new "WX-78 Pretty Dark Idolatry Chest" skin is available for $5.99, and the Butterbee Beebox skin has been added to Twitch Drops. Klei also confirmed the Shadow Arc Finale is coming with the 10-year DST anniversary celebration at Klei Fest in June.

WX-78 Skill Spotlight

The WX-78 skill spotlight is now available on Steam. We aren't quite happy with Shadow Affinity, so we decided to lock that part of the tree, and we'll hotfix it in as soon as we have it ready for you. We'll need a few more days for console since we need a new build for console that holds off the shadow affinity portion of the tree. We expect this to be released for console on Monday. We apologize for the inconvenience here, but we think it's worth it for us to make sure Shadow Affinity meets our expectations.

Highlights

- WX-78 Skill Tree added.

- WX-78 base Circuit system expanded to 3 bars.

- Added several new Circuits.

- Now that Year of the Clockwork Knight is over, players will be limited to 2 (or 3 for WX-78) of each type of Clockwork followers at a time.

This Chest contains the WX-78 Pretty Dark Things Chest, and WX-78's complete set of Archaic skin items.

New Streaming Drops

The “Butterbee" skin for the Beebox has been added to the Chitinous Collection. Check out this post for details. “Mixing honey and butter, who would have thought?”

Our Ambassadors have also been given a bunch of new codes to give away. Including Starter Packs, and two new Resurrected skins, the Resurrected All-Chemical Engine and Nightmarish Magician's Chest!
