CS2 Counter-Strike 2 Update Patch Notes (21st April 2026)

Valve has pushed a CS2 update focused on recoil camera feel and aim punch consistency, with the changes explicitly targeting CS:GO parity.

The recoil camera feel has been a quiet frustration for CS:GO veterans since CS2 launched, and Valve has finally moved to address it. The 21st April update adjusts camera motion due to recoil to more closely match how CS:GO handled it, while keeping bullet trajectories on the CS2 path. In practice, your screen should move more like it used to without your shots going anywhere different.

The aim punch fix is the other change worth understanding. Previously, the full camera kick from getting shot could be affected by network latency, meaning players on worse connections weren't seeing the complete visual impact. That's now corrected, with full aim punch camera motion applied regardless of latency. The actual effect on bullet trajectories still resolves server-side immediately, so this is purely a visual consistency fix, but it's one reading gunfights accurately.

Rounding things out, the AnimGraph 2 work brings minor viewmodel animation tweaks, a fix for instantaneous crouch transitions in the air, and a correction to MVP panel characters not resetting properly. Smaller stuff, but the recoil and aim punch changes are the real story here. Everything in the update is listed below.

Full Patch Notes

\[ GAMEPLAY ]

  • Adjusted camera motion due to recoil to match CS:GO more closely. Bullet trajectories should continue to match CS2.
  • Players will now experience the full camera motion due to external sources of aim punch (e.g. getting shot) regardless of network latency. The effects of aim punch on bullet trajectories are still applied immediately on the server.

\[ ANIMGRAPH 2 ]

  • Minor adjustments to viewmodel animations.
  • Fixed several cases where crouch transitions in the air were instantaneous.
  • Fixed a bug where MVP panel characters weren't resetting correctly.
