Helldivers 2 Will Require Steam Players to Link PlayStation Network Account

If you’ve been diving into the action-packed world of Helldivers 2 on your trusty PC, you might have received some unexpected news from Sony. Starting from Monday, May 6, new PC players are required to link their accounts to a PlayStation Network account in order to play the game. Current players have until June 4 to make the switch, or they risk being locked out of the game.

It seems that Sony is taking a firm stance on player safety and security by enforcing this change. According to a recent post on Steam, the account linking process is essential for protecting players from griefing and abuse, allowing for necessary bans and appeals. While this move may come as a surprise to some, it was actually part of the plan all along following technical issues during the game’s launch period.

Although signing up for a PlayStation Network account is free, many PC players are expressing frustration over this mandatory requirement. Some are even considering dropping the game altogether due to the inconvenience, especially if they do not own a PlayStation console. In some regions where creating a PlayStation account is not possible, players are left with limited options, potentially resulting in their inability to access Helldivers 2.
