11 Bit Studios has officially announced the much-awaited release of Frostpunk 2. Slated for the first half of 2024, this sequel to the critically acclaimed survival strategy game is poised to make its debut on PC, including a Day 1 release on PC Game Pass. Later in the year, it will also be available on Xbox Game Pass, expanding its reach to a broader audience.
Frostpunk 2, first announced on August 12, 2021, continues the harrowing tale of survival and societal management 30 years after the original game's "Great Storm." Set in a world still grappling with an endless, apocalyptic blizzard, players will assume the role of a leader in a resource-starved metropolis. The game promises to challenge players with tough decisions and the weighty consequences that follow.
The sequel expands the scope of city-building, allowing players to create entire districts with distinct purposes, ensuring the smooth functioning of the city's various parts. Additionally, players will have the opportunity to research new technologies, steering the direction of their citizens' progress.
In June 2023, 11 Bit Studios inked a new deal to bring its titles to Xbox Game Pass, marking a significant step in the studio's expansion. Another title from the studio, "The Alters," is also expected to release by the end of 2024.
