Despite recent employee downsizing at EA, the publisher, development for the Star Wars strategy game in production at Bit Reactor will press ahead. This assertion comes from the developer themselves through a post on X, in reaction to the recent cessation of Respawn's initial venture into the first-person shooter genre. They said amidst the latest disturbances in the gaming industry, they remain committed and their projects have remained unaffected by the latest occurrences.

Specific details about the game, whose announcement was made concurrently with Respawn's shooter and the third Star Wars Jedi franchise installment, remain scant. Please note: To access the embed details, allow the usage of Functional Cookies in your Cookie Preferences.

The now-closed down Respawn project, whose announcement was made in 2022, was being overseen by Peter Hirschmann. Peter, a previous LucasArts specialist and co-founder of Medal of Honor, had prior experience with the original Battlefront games, The Force Unleashed among others.

Simultaneously with the announcement of nearly 700 layoffs across the company, Laura Miele, the EA Entertainment president, released a statement on Wednesday. In her statement, she revealed that Respawn should emphasize the Jedi and Apex Legends series after performing a product evaluation.

She commented: "Respawn’s unique ability to connect with players and create exceptional game experiences is unrivaled in entertainment. s we’ve looked at Respawn’s portfolio over the last few months, what’s clear is the games our players are most excited about are Jedi and Respawn’s rich library of owned brands.”

Recognizing this, she stated that they decided to switch away from the early stages of a Star Wars FPS Action game to concentrate their resources on upcoming projects based on their proprietary series, while also focusing on offering support for existing games.
