Steam Blows Star Wars: Galactic Racer's Release Date
Someone at Steam or Fuse Games jumped the gun, briefly posting an October 6 release date and deluxe edition details for Star Wars: Galactic Racer before pulling them down.
Somebody hit publish too early. An updated graphic on the Steam page for Star Wars: Galactic Racer briefly revealed an October 6, 2026 release date before being yanked, as spotted by Wario64. The page now lists a vague "2026" window again, but the cat's already out of the bag.
The leaked key art wasn't just a date slip. It also confirmed pre-order bonuses for the standard edition, including a player banner and livery, alongside a deluxe edition packed with three exclusive Repulsorcraft vehicles, three unique arcade events, a digital art book, and platform-specific cosmetics. A physical steelbook is included with boxed copies of the deluxe. Some fans are speculating the official announcement was being prepped for May the 4th, which would make this premature upload especially painful for whoever's managing that storefront.
An October 6 launch slots Galactic Racer into a surprisingly open window. It lands roughly three weeks after Marvel's Wolverine on September 15 and a full six weeks before Grand Theft Auto 6 on November 19. For a new racing IP, even one carrying the Star Wars name, that breathing room matters. I think Fuse Games needs every advantage it can get; the studio was founded in 2023 by ex-Criterion developers who worked on Burnout and Need for Speed, and Galactic Racer is their debut title. Pedigree is one thing, but shipping a polished 12-player arcade racer with a full single-player story is another.
The game was announced at The Game Awards 2025 and last shown during Sony's State of Play in February. No pricing has been confirmed for either edition. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
