Skateboard a Train Through Japan in June's Game Pass

June's Game Pass lineup is already one of the stranger months in recent memory, led by a game where you kickflip an actual train through Japanese cities.

Somewhere in the pitch meeting for Denshattack!, someone said the words "what if you could ollie a train" and nobody stopped them. The result is one of four games already confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in June 2026, and it might be the most absurd day-one addition the service has seen in months.

According to True Achievements, Denshattack! launches on June 17 and will be available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from day one. The premise is exactly what it sounds like: you skateboard a train through Japan's biggest cities, pulling kickflips, ollies, and grinds as you barrel through colourful environments. It's been compared to OlliOlli World and Jet Set Radio, which is a combination I didn't know I wanted until right now. I'm immediately sold on the concept. Games this confidently weird rarely disappoint, and even if the execution doesn't fully land, the sheer novelty of grinding rails on a locomotive earns it a spot on my download queue.

The rest of June's lineup

Denshattack! isn't the only confirmed addition. Three other titles round out what we know so far, and the variety here is impressive for a pre-announcement list.

Beastro, a cozy cooking RPG from Timberline Studio, was originally supposed to launch on May 21 but got pushed back to June 11. You play as a young chef named Panko running a restaurant in a peaceful village, gathering ingredients and serving meals to protective creatures called Caretakers. There's also a turn-based card-battling system tied to the food you cook, where the ingredients you use determine the cards your Caretakers bring into battle. It's hitting Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on launch day. I like that the delay was short and specific; a three-week pushback suggests the game was nearly there and the studio wanted to polish rather than ship and patch.

Abyssus arrives on June 26 as a roguelite co-op shooter for one to four players. You're a Brinehunter diving to the ocean floor to harvest rare materials from ancient ruins, fighting through 64 procedurally sequenced levels with eight weapons that can be imbued with godly powers. Since it's already available on Steam, it's expected to land across Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass tiers rather than being treated as a day-one release.

Then there's Frog Sqwad, a co-op extraction puzzle-platformer for up to eight players. You play as a frog with absurdly large eyes, swinging through sewers with your tongue, grabbing objects, and catapulting things while solving physics-based challenges. It's confirmed for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass sometime in June, though no exact date has been announced yet. Eight-player co-op extraction with frogs is either going to be a sleeper hit or complete chaos. Probably both.

Microsoft hasn't revealed its full June wave yet, so more titles will almost certainly be added to this list. But what's already here tells a clear story: June is leaning hard into indie and mid-tier creativity rather than blockbuster tentpoles. I prefer months like this. A massive AAA launch on Game Pass gets all the attention, but it's the months stuffed with smaller, stranger games that actually get me to try things I'd never have bought outright. Denshattack! is the perfect example. I would have scrolled right past it on a store page. On Game Pass, I'll absolutely give it an hour, and that hour might turn into ten.

The full June 2026 Game Pass lineup should be officially announced by Microsoft in the coming weeks, likely in the first few days of the month as has been standard practice. For now, four games across four completely different genres is a solid foundation, and the train-skateboarding one is going to be impossible to ignore in the marketing.
