Pragmata Director Wants a Sequel, Capcom PR Panics
Pragmata director Yonghee Cho told GamesRadar he'd love to make a sequel, and Capcom's PR team apparently treated the comment like a live grenade.

"Of course I'd love to see a sequel," Pragmata director Yonghee Cho told GamesRadar in a recent interview. Simple enough, right? Apparently not for Capcom's PR team, who reportedly scrambled to contain the comment like Cho had just leaked classified launch codes.
According to GamesRadar's Austin Wood, who conducted the interview with Cho and producer Naoto Oyama, Capcom PR on the Japan side of the call "really spoke up" after Cho's answer. Wood wrote that "you'd think Cho had dropped a live hand grenade in the room from the way everyone rushed to dive on his response." Oyama quickly followed up with "please don't take that line out of context," and Cho himself clarified it was purely his "own personal opinion on the matter." I love this dynamic. A director who clearly cares about what he built, and a corporate apparatus that can't let him say so without a disclaimer.
The thing is, there's nothing remotely controversial about what Cho said. Pragmata sold a million copies in two days and hit two million within its first 16 days, according to Capcom. It holds an 86 average on OpenCritic with 96% of critics recommending it. Capcom USA's COO Rob Dyer already said publicly in April that the game's success means the company has "got another IP." The sequel conversation isn't premature; it's inevitable. Capcom PR treating Cho's enthusiasm like a containment breach is the funniest part of this whole story, and a perfect snapshot of how differently developers and corporate communications operate.
Oyama gave the more rehearsed answer, saying he's focused on getting more people to experience the first game. Fair enough, considering it's only been about a month since launch. But Capcom has built its modern reputation on following up commercial hits quickly. There are over 30 Resident Evil games. If Pragmata 2 isn't already being discussed internally, I'd be surprised. Pragmata is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
