First New Mega Man in Years Lands Playable Debut at Gamescom
Capcom is bringing Mega Man: Dual Override to Gamescom 2026 as a playable demo, giving fans their first hands-on with a new Mega Man game in years.

Since Mega Man 11, the Blue Bomber has been conspicuously absent from new releases. That drought gets its first real crack at Gamescom 2026, where Capcom confirmed that Mega Man: Dual Override will be publicly playable for the first time.
The game was revealed at The Game Awards in 2025 with a vague 2027 release window, and we've seen precious little of it since. A playable demo at Gamescom suggests Capcom is ready to start building momentum, and I'd be surprised if a new trailer doesn't drop around the same time. For a franchise that's spent years in limbo between collections and re-releases, actually getting to play something new feels like a bigger deal than Capcom is treating it.
Dual Override is part of a stacked Capcom booth at Gamescom, running August 26 through 30 at Koelnmesse in Cologne. The publisher is setting up around 60 demo stations in Hall 9, Booth A070, spread across more than 950 square meters. Alongside Mega Man, attendees can get hands-on time with Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen (the expansion announced during Nintendo Direct last week), Onimusha: Way of the Sword ahead of its September 25 launch, and Street Fighter 6 with esports activities.
Capcom is also planning live streams from the show floor, with German-language coverage produced by Rocket Beans TV broadcasting on YouTube and Twitch. Nintendo, Xbox, and Ubisoft have all confirmed their own presence at this year's show, so Gamescom 2026 is shaping into one of the bigger lineups the expo has had in recent years.
Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen launches on October 9, bundled with the base game on Nintendo Switch 2. Onimusha: Way of the Sword already has a PS5 demo available, with its full release set for September 25. Mega Man: Dual Override remains targeted for 2027 across all platforms.
