For anyone hoping this Xbox-Discord partnership would be a proper gateway into cloud gaming, that cap is going to sting.

The leak surfaced after Xbox boss Asha Sharma teased earlier this week that players might "start to see some code in the wild" related to a Discord collaboration. They did. Discord dataminer DiscordPreviews shared artwork and details showing the Starter Edition bundled into Nitro's existing $9.99/month subscription, while developer Redphx found code references confirming the new tier's existence. According to the leaked text strings, Starter Edition includes access to 50+ games from the Game Pass library, 10 hours a month of cloud streaming, and Xbox Rewards points.

The game selection looks comparable to Game Pass Essential, Microsoft's current cheapest tier. Leaked artwork shows titles like Stardew Valley, Fallout 4, Grounded, Gears 5, Dishonored 2, and Overcooked 2. Solid catalogue for a freebie bundled into a chat app subscription, but nobody's getting day-one releases here. One detail VGC flagged is that there's no mention of online multiplayer access in the leaked text, which Essential currently includes. If that's missing from Starter Edition, it's a meaningful downgrade.

The 10-hour cloud cap is the real conversation piece. Cloud gaming is supposed to be the feature that lets you play without owning hardware, and 10 hours a month barely gets you through a single RPG's opening act.
