Your $10 Discord Nitro Sub Now Unlocks 50+ Xbox Games

"I think this is one of the best benefits we're offering because it changes how you try games," Discord senior director of product Lu Zhang said in a blog post announcing the partnership. "Most of us have spent money on something, played it for a couple weeks, then watched it sit in our library. Game Pass removes that friction."

Zhang isn't wrong, and the deal itself is surprisingly generous. Starting today, anyone paying for Discord Nitro at $9.99 a month gets a "starter edition" of Xbox Game Pass bundled in at no additional cost. That means access to over 50 PC and console games, 10 hours of cloud gaming per month, and the ability to earn up to $25 a year in Microsoft Store rewards. The library includes Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, Overcooked 2, and Grounded, with Xbox blockbusters like Gears 5, Doom Eternal, and Dishonored 2 in there too. Discord says new games will be added "periodically," though there's no clarity yet on how long individual titles will stick around.

This only applies to the full $9.99 Nitro tier. If you're on Nitro Basic at $2.99, you're out of luck. Gifted Nitro memberships and most trial periods do qualify, though.

What Game Pass Subs Get Back

The deal runs both ways. Existing Xbox Game Pass subscribers, regardless of which tier they're on, will start receiving Discord Nitro perks later this month. Those include 250 Discord Orbs each month (currency for Discord's cosmetic shop), a 1.2x Orb multiplier when completing Quests, and automatic discounts in the Discord Shop. On top of the Game Pass bundle, Nitro Rewards also includes discounts on Logitech and SteelSeries peripherals, with Discord signalling that more partner deals are coming throughout 2026.

Discord has also built proper integration into its app so that when a friend is playing a Game Pass title, you can jump into that game in just a couple of clicks. It's a small quality-of-life touch, but it's exactly how you get people to actually use a bundled subscription rather than forget it exists.

I'll be honest: for people already paying for Nitro, this is a good addition. The Nitro subscription has always felt slightly overpriced for what amounted to bigger file uploads and custom emoji. Strapping 50-plus games onto it shifts the value proposition considerably. It's not the full Game Pass library, and 10 hours of cloud gaming a month won't satisfy anyone who relies on streaming, but as a bonus perk on a subscription you were already paying for? Hard to complain.

The timing is interesting, too. Discord co-founder Stanislav Vishnevskiy told TechCrunch that the Rewards program is "a big thank you" to subscribers, but it also coincides with the tenth anniversary of Discord Nitro and follows a wave of subscription cancellations earlier this year. Users protested Discord's controversial age verification rollout, which in some cases required face scans or government ID. Discord never reversed the policy, and a data breach involving age verification materials only made things worse. Framing Nitro Rewards as a celebration is fine, but it's clearly also a retention play after a rough few months.

To claim the Game Pass starter edition, Nitro subscribers need to open Discord, head to Direct Messages, select the Nitro Home tab, and find the Xbox Game Pass card. You'll need to link a Microsoft account if you haven't already. Discord says more partners and perks are planned for the rest of the year, so this looks like the foundation of something bigger rather than a one-off promotion.
