Capcom Spotlight Thursday Covers Dark Arisen and Onimusha
A half-hour Capcom Spotlight on Thursday will focus on Dragon's Dogma 2's Dark Arisen expansion, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and Monster Hunter Stories 3. Don't expect surprise reveals.

Three games. Thirty minutes. No surprises. That's the pitch for Capcom's latest Spotlight broadcast, announced on the publisher's website and confirmed for Thursday, 25th June at 2pm PDT / 5pm EDT / 10pm BST. The lineup is Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and Capcom has been explicit that the stream will stick to those three titles.
Fans on social media are already clamoring for a stealth Ace Attorney announcement or a Devil May Cry tease, but Capcom's track record with these Spotlights suggests you should temper that energy. The studio has historically delivered exactly what it promises for these streams and nothing more. I respect that, honestly. Overpromising and underdelivering is a far worse look than being upfront about scope.
Dark Arisen Gets Its Close-Up
Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is the headliner here, and it should be. This will be the first extended look at the expansion since its reveal trailer during Summer Game Fest. Capcom has confirmed a 9th October release for the DLC, which brings a new snow-covered region, 12 additional dungeon challenges, and new character customisation options including hairstyles and tattoos for both your Arisen and your Pawns.
The name itself carries weight. The original Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen expansion in 2013 was widely credited with elevating that game from a flawed curiosity into something special. Reusing the name for Dragon's Dogma 2's first major expansion sets a high bar, and I'm curious whether Capcom can clear it. Dragon's Dogma 2 had a rougher launch reception than its predecessor, partly due to microtransaction backlash and performance issues, so a strong expansion could reshape the conversation around the game entirely. Thursday's showcase should give us a better sense of whether Dark Arisen is a meaty overhaul or a standard content drop.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the other title I'm watching closely. The game is officially dated for 25th September, but there's a wrinkle: retailers have reportedly listed a 4th September release date, suggesting Capcom might be considering moving the launch up by three weeks. That would make sense given the competition on the original date. Both Control Resonant and Silent Hill Townfall are set for 24th September, and cramming a samurai action game between two major horror titles is a tough sell even for a franchise with Onimusha's name recognition.
If you haven't tried the Onimusha demo yet, it's live right now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The game is set in 1500s Japan and follows Miyamoto Musashi, with a combat system focused on a single katana. Director Satoru Nihei has spoken about studying Toshiro Mifune's film performances to inform the protagonist's expressions and movement, which is exactly the kind of creative ambition I want to see from a franchise revival that's been dormant for over a decade.
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is the wildcard of the three. The turn-based RPG launched back in March, and none of the previous Stories games have received substantial post-launch DLC. Capcom including it in the Spotlight lineup suggests either a significant free update or a paid expansion announcement, both of which would be firsts for the spin-off series.
Capcom is riding serious momentum into this showcase. Pragmata finally shipped in February after years of delays and hit 2 million copies sold shortly after launch. Resident Evil Requiem, also a February release, became the fastest-selling entry in the franchise's 30-plus year history and passed 7 million sales by April. When a publisher is on a streak like this, even a low-key 30-minute stream carries a different energy.
The Capcom Spotlight airs Thursday, 25th June on the Capcom YouTube channel. A potential Onimusha date change and the first real look at Dark Arisen's new region are the two things most likely to generate headlines coming out of it.
