The 7th Guest Remake Is Free If You Own the VR Version
Vertigo Games is bringing its 2023 VR reimagining of The 7th Guest to flat screens on June 4, and existing VR owners don't have to pay a penny.

If you picked up The 7th Guest VR back in 2023, you've already paid for the upcoming remake. Vertigo Games announced that The 7th Guest Remake launches June 4 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, priced at $19.99, but anyone who owns the Steam VR or PSVR 2 version gets it completely free on the same platform. It works in reverse too: buy the flat-screen remake and you'll unlock the VR version.
That cross-entitlement deal is rare, and I wish more studios did it. Too often a VR port and a standard release are treated as entirely separate products, each demanding full price. Vertigo rewarding early VR adopters instead of double-dipping is builds actual goodwill, especially for a $20 game that could easily have gotten away with charging twice.
As for the game itself, the remake appears to be an adaptation of Vertigo's 2023 VR title, which was a full ground-up rebuild of the 1993 CD-ROM classic. Based on the announcement trailer, it looks like the same reimagined Stauf Mansion, complete with volumetric FMV performances and redesigned puzzles, reworked for standard controls and flat screens. A Nintendo Switch version and Epic Games Store release are also planned for later. For anyone who grew up with that original CD-ROM era of adventure games, or anyone who just wants a moody horror puzzle game for under twenty bucks, this one landed right on my radar.
