Dead Island 2 prepares to make its grand entrance on Steam on April 22nd. This highly anticipated move comes nearly a year after the game's original release, broadening its accessibility to a wider audience of gamers. The announcement, made through a new Steam post, has been warmly received, especially with the confirmation that players from the Epic Games Store will be able to team up with those on Steam, thanks to crossplay support.

Dead Island 2, developed by Dambuster Studios, initially launched in April 2023 and has since been available on Windows, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. Despite the lack of details on what delayed the Steam version, the excitement among fans is palpable, particularly for those eager to experience the game across different platforms.

The game has received mixed reviews from critics but holds a 'Generally Favorable' rating from players on Metacritic. This suggests a solid base of support for the new Steam version, which is likely to attract even more players to its gory, zombie-infested world.

In addition to the main game, Dead Island 2 has expanded its narrative with the release of a new story expansion, Haus, in November 2023. This DLC took players to a villa in Malibu to face off against the brutal Kult villains. Although opinions on Haus were divided among fans, the game's momentum doesn't seem to be waning, with another major story expansion, "Sola Festival," rumored to be released in Q2 of this year.

To celebrate the Steam release, there's an exciting offer for players: Dead Island Riptide – Definitive Edition is available for free for the next 48 hours. This gesture not only commemorates the new launch but also gives players an added incentive to dive into the Dead Island universe.
