The First Descendant Update 1.3.25 Patch Notes (16th April 2026)
Update 1.3.25 brings Onslaught Mode to The First Descendant in beta, along with a Viessa rework and a new Colossus to fight.

Onslaught Mode is finally here. Update 1.3.25 went live today across Steam, Xbox, and PS5, delivering the cooperative wave defense mode that was flagged during last week's maintenance window. You hold back monster waves across three stages, spend combat currency on turrets and barricades, and work toward a Colossus kill at the end. It's gated behind Mastery Rank 18, so newer players won't be jumping in immediately, but for anyone deep in the grind this is a meaningful new loop to run.
Viessa gets a significant rework here too. Ice Sphere's cooldown doubles from 15 to 30 seconds, but its explosion range expands and it now leaves a persistent projectile with its own damage interval. Frost Shards, meanwhile, gets a near-64% damage bump on both direct hits and explosions. On paper this looks like a trade of raw uptime for higher burst output, and I'm curious whether it actually plays better or just feels worse to use in practice.
A new Colossus called Storm Hanger takes over the Abyss Challenge leaderboard through May 21, and the new "Show Battle Effect" option lets you cut down on screen clutter from other players' abilities, which anyone who's played in a full squad will appreciate. The complete notes are below.
