The Finals Hotfix 10.3,1 Patch Notes (17th April 2026)

Embark Studios rolls back the goo break timing change from 10.3 after it introduced some broken interactions, with a fix promised for update 10.6.

Less than 24 hours after 10.3 shipped, Embark has pushed Hotfix 10.3.1 to address several bugs that crept in with yesterday's update, and one of them is bad enough to warrant a full revert.

The goo break timing change, which increased the delay before goo breaks when overlapping a player from 0.2 to 0.8 seconds, is being walked back to its original value. According to Embark's dev note, the change was causing goo to stop interrupting objective steal attempts and, worse, letting players use it to shield stealing teammates from all incoming damage. That second one is a serious competitive problem, and I don't blame them for pulling it fast. The studio says they still want the change in the game and plan to reintroduce it properly in update 10.6. Credit to them for being upfront about what went wrong rather than burying it in vague patch language.

Beyond the revert, the hotfix cleans up a handful of other issues: APS Turrets were bouncing around after deployment and dragging world objects with them, the Data Reshaper was spitting out random objects instead of its intended outputs, and sliding could occasionally be interrupted for no reason. The Gateway's preview effects have also been reverted after the 10.3 change made them difficult to read against bright backgrounds. The complete notes are below.

Following Update 10.3, we noticed several unintentional bugs and with today’s update, we’re fixing some of these issues as well as temporarily reverting some changes. We’re still investigating other reports as well. Thank you as always for reporting those issues to us!

GAME UPDATE | BALANCE CHANGES

Gameplay

Goo

  • Temporarily increased the time it takes for goo to break when overlapping a player from 0.2s to 0.8s

Dev Note: The change to the time it takes for goo to break that we made in 10.3 caused several unintended severe bugs, including not interrupting objective steal attempts, as well as allowing shielding of stealing teammates from all damage. As a result, we have to revert this change for the time being, but we intend to have these issues solved and the change reinstated in 10.6. We apologize for the mistake, especially after all the great memes related to this change yesterday!
