SCUM INTO THE WILD - May Update | 1.3.0.0 Patch Notes (25th May 2026)
SCUM's first themed season has arrived, and Gamepires and Splash Damage are using it to signal where the game is heading next.
There's more riding on this update than a changelog. SCUM's 1.3.0.0 patch launches the Into the Wild season, a multi-month stretch focused on hunting, wilderness, and survival content, and it arrives alongside the first real public statement from Gamepires and Splash Damage about what their partnership actually means for the game's direction. That context matters, because SCUM's community has been sitting with unanswered questions since the acquisition, and "we're aligned" is at least more than radio silence.
The seasonal structure is the headline shift here. Rather than scattered updates, Gamepires is committing to themed monthly drops through summer, each one building on the Into the Wild focus with new features, content, and balance work. It's a format that works well when studios follow through on it, and I'm cautiously watching to see whether the quality holds across all three months rather than front-loading the good stuff.
Splash Damage's Dominic Butler and Gamepires co-founder Ivan Švarc both stress that the goal is building on what already makes SCUM special rather than reshaping it, which is the right thing to say. Whether the updates back that up is the actual test. Here's everything that changed.
Full Patch Notes
Hello, prisoners.
Over the past few months, many of you have had questions about what Gamepires joining the Splash Damage Group means for the future of SCUM.
Bringing two teams together around a live game takes a lot of coordination behind the scenes, and throughout that process we’ve been working closely to shape our plan for SCUM’s next chapter.
We know you’ve been waiting to hear more, and now that work is far enough along, we want to be more direct about where things stand and where we’re heading next.
THE FUTURE OF SCUM
SCUM is a game with a dedicated community, a world all its own, and a huge amount of potential. We’re working together to support its future and help it become everything we believe it can be.
Gamepires remains fully focused on SCUM and on continuing the vision that has shaped the game so far. Splash Damage is here to strengthen development with additional expertise and resources where they can have the biggest impact.
Together, we’re building on the strengths already at the heart of SCUM and helping push the game forward.
“For anyone getting to know Splash Damage through SCUM, we’re a studio with a long history in multiplayer and live game development. After spending some real time playing, it didn’t take long for us to see just how special this game is.
SCUM already has something really rare. It has depth, tension, freedom, and a strong sense of identity.
That’s a huge part of why we’re excited to be working with Gamepires on it. SCUM deserves to be seen by more players, and the players already here deserve to see that depth continue to grow.
For us, this is about helping SCUM build on what already makes it great, sharpening and strengthening the experience, and helping more people discover everything it has to offer.
This summer feels like the start of something important for SCUM, and we can’t wait to show you more.”
Dominic Butler, Studio Design Director at Splash Damage
“The goal is simple. Keep building on the things that make SCUM special, while improving the areas we know players want us to keep pushing.
Working with Splash Damage gives us more support in key parts of development and helps us move that work forward with more focus behind it.
We also know that focus has to show up in the quality of the updates themselves. Players should feel that progress when a patch lands, and raising that standard is part of the work ahead.
What matters most is that we are aligned on where SCUM is going, and that we’re building on what is already there to help the game continue to grow.
That work is already underway, and we’re excited for players to start seeing it.”
Ivan Švarc, Art Director & Co-founder at Gamepires
WHAT’S COMING NEXT
Over the next few months, SCUM will head Into the Wild, a themed season centred on hunting, wilderness, and survival.
Each month, we’ll be bringing an update around that theme, with new features, content, and gameplay improvements, alongside ongoing bug fixes and balance work.
We know the community wants to see progress across many areas of SCUM. Some of that work will take longer to tackle than others, but we believe this is a strong step in the right direction.
Into the Wild is our first focused season, built to improve and expand a key area of the game across multiple updates. Beyond this summer, you can expect a similar seasonal approach, with stronger themes and a clearer sense of what each stretch of development will deliver.
The first update arrives next week, and we’ll have more to share very soon.
In the meantime, prisoners, try not to die before it drops!
