Sand Raiders Of Sophie Update #7 is Patch Notes (10th August 2026)

The ping system finally arrives, but Update #7's real work is grinding through the backlog of multiplayer friction points that have plagued crews since launch.

Update #7 lands with the feature that should have shipped at launch: an in-game ping system. This is not a minor convenience. In a four-player cooperative game where voice chat is not guaranteed and callouts can be drowned out by gunfire, a ping mechanic transforms how teams coordinate without typing. The implementation includes a pulse animation when zooming the map, which directly addresses the practical problem of spotting your position during chaotic moments. For crews playing without Discord open, this closes a significant communication gap.

But the headline feature masks the patch's actual purpose: demolishing the multiplayer friction pile. Four-player teams could not select Small Crews before, a baffling restriction that has now been removed. Multiple players could mount the same turret, creating both balance absurdity and potential griefing vectors. The captain's kick option vanished when they pressed Ready, leaving them unable to remove problem players at the final moment. These are not edge cases or niche complaints. These are core team management and gameplay loops that were broken. Their all appearing in a single patch suggests the developers have been triaging reported issues rather than chasing new content.

The auto-cannon exploit fix deserves specific attention. The weapon was shooting faster than intended, which means every balance decision made around it since launch was built on broken behaviour. Crews that relied on the auto-cannon's actual rate of fire will feel the nerf, but it also means the weapon can now be properly evaluated and balanced going forward. This is the kind of foundational repair that does not appear urgent until you realise it has been poisoning the meta.

Less encouraging is the known issues list. Nine problems remain unfixed, several of them serious. Characters can become invulnerable to melee damage while interacting with turrets. Bullets pass through speed-boosted players. The Upior enemy behaves differently on client and server. A character can become invulnerable to melee damage while interacting with turrets or the steering wheel, and bullets can pass through characters on speed-boosted tramplers. These are not cosmetic. They directly affect combat reliability and will frustrate players in high-pressure moments.

The backend work and VFX improvements suggest the team is also addressing technical debt, not just feature gaps. Terrain occlusion, clipping through obstacles, and visual seams on low settings are the kind of polish work that does not generate hype but determines whether the game feels finished. Update #7 reads like a stabilisation patch, the kind that precedes either a content push or a launch window. The ping system gets the press release, but the 25 fixes are what actually make the game playable for crews trying to coordinate under pressure.
