Path of Exile 2 0.5.4e Hotfix Patch Notes (5th August 2026)

This is not a balance patch. The 0.5.4e hotfix announcement contains no gameplay changes, bug fixes, or mechanical adjustments to Path of Exile 2 itself. Instead, Grinding Gear Games is using the patch notes channel to broadcast the official structure and timeline for the ExileCon Path of Exile 2 Qualifiers, the competitive racing series that will determine who competes in the live finals at ExileCon in New Zealand later this year.

Four qualifier events run weekly starting 6 August at 2PM PDT, with each subsequent event on 13 August, 20 August, and 27 August at the same time. The format is consistent across all four: players race in Solo Self-Found Runes of Aldur events with a fixed map layout, competing to become the first to defeat Tavakai in Act Four. Whilst the qualifier events themselves are not Hardcore, death carries a severe mechanical penalty rather than a character reset. After each death, a player's character becomes stationary for two and a half minutes before they can resume the race. That immobility is the race's primary friction point, transforming deaths from mere setbacks into time losses that can easily determine placement.

Both PC and console players can enter the qualifiers, but the live finale at ExileCon will be played on PC only. Finalists will be permitted to bring their.build files and preferred gaming peripherals to Auckland, meaning the transition from qualifier to finale does not force a rebuild or equipment substitution. The first-place finisher in each qualifier event receives flights to Auckland for the ExileCon weekend, accommodation, an Ultra VIP ExileCon ticket, entry into the live finals, and a Demigod's Virtue Unique Helmet as a trophy item.

For participation, players must link their Path of Exile account to Twitch before the events begin. Entry happens via a "Join" button on the Character Select screen, and characters remain stationary until the race officially starts, preventing any early movement advantage. ZiggyD and Raiz will host the broadcast across all four events on twitch.tv/pathofexile.

This announcement reveals the competitive structure but does not address how qualifier results feed into the live finals bracket, what the finals format will be, or how many finalists from each qualifier event will advance.
