Hearts of Iron IV Hotfix 1.19.0.1 Patch Notes (12th June 2026)
A small but necessary hotfix addresses a critical crash tied to the new Army HQ feature and fixes the TaoG DLC menu icon.

Hotfix 1.19.0.1 just went live to patch two specific problems that cropped up after Thunder at our Gates launched. The big one: a crash when Army HQ units got destroyed in combat, particularly nasty in scenarios like Spain's four-way civil war. The other fix is smaller but annoying, the TaoG DLC icon wasn't lighting up properly in the main menu if you owned it.
Paradox is also being straight about what they're seeing in crash reports: most other CTDs are mod-related, and they're asking players to use the crash reporter tool if you're certain you're playing clean. That's useful transparency, honestly.
On the balance side, the studio acknowledged complaints about stat bloat and a specific exploit where command ability costs were getting zeroed out by general planning skills, that was unintentional and will be reverted in 1.19.1. They're already working on two more patches, with 1.19.1 targeting early next week and 1.19.2 following shortly after.

✓ Fix◆ TweakGenerals!
We’ve just released a small hotfix (1.19.0.1) to address two of the issues that we’re seeing right now.
- There was a particular crash related to the Spanish civil war kicking off into a four-way civil war and the new Army HQ feature.
- There was an issue where the TaoG DLC icon in the main menu wasn’t lighting up properly if you have the DLC unlocked.
Both of these should now be fixed.
Crashing and MODs
We also can see in our reporting telemetry that most other crashes players are experiencing right now are related to playing with mods. If you do crash, and you are 100% certain that you’re NOT playing without mods, please submit your crashes in the crashreporter tool so we can look into fixing them.
Balance and stat bloat
We hear your concerns with balance & stat bloat, and we’re looking into this. We also see the complaints about command ability cost being affected by the general planning skill, causing in rare cases the ability cost to be pretty much free. This was unintentional and will be reverted in 1.19.1.
More patch
We’re already working on Patches 1.19.1 and 1.19.2.
Our aim is to release the former (early) next week, and 1.19.2 should be not too far after that.
