Hades II Post-Launch Patch 2 - Hotfix 5 Patch Notes (28th July 2026)
Supergiant's latest hotfix for Hades II tackles a progression blocker in Dream Dives and corrects several high-stakes ability interactions that were breaking specific builds against endgame encounters.

Post-Launch Patch 2 - Hotfix 5 lands as a focused repair job, addressing a progression trap in Dream Dives and untangling several ability combinations that were misfiring in high-difficulty encounters. The patch is primarily bug fixes rather than balance changes, which means these were unintended interactions breaking player strategies rather than design decisions being reversed.
The most consequential fix here concerns Wells of Charon no longer appearing after visiting Ephyra in Dream Dives. This is a hard blocker for players attempting that mode, since Wells are a core resource for purchasing upgrades and sustaining runs. If you were hitting a wall where the shop simply vanished mid-run, this patch restores access to that progression path. Dream Dives players should see significantly fewer soft-lock scenarios where the run became unwinnable through no fault of their own.
Several fixes target Duo Boon interactions that were preventing proper removal. King's Ransom and Queen's Ransom, the Zeus and Hera Duo Boons, sometimes failed to strip their component Boons when triggered. This matters because Duo Boons are high-value rewards that require both parent Boons to function, and if the removal mechanic breaks, you can end up with locked Boon slots that cannot be cleared. The Vow of Scars fix is similarly specific: its healing reduction was incorrectly applying to vampiric attacks from the Phantom in the Fields of Mourning, which would have made that particular enemy combination significantly harder than intended.
Boss-specific fixes address several problematic interactions. Howling Soul projectiles were detonating unexpectedly against Unrivaled Typhon, Riposte from Aspect of Artemis wasn't triggering against Infernal Cerberus's radial blasts, and Unrivaled Prometheus's charge attacks were continuing after defeat. These are the kinds of bugs that feel like ability failures rather than design choices, and they directly undermine specific weapon-Boon combinations that players would reasonably expect to work. Chronos becoming noninteractive in Erebus after switching Keepsakes is another progression hazard that this patch eliminates.
The remaining fixes address edge cases: Selene's Moon Beam not reliably spawning Path of Stars upgrades, Glorious Disaster's UI feedback when Magick-starved, and a scenario where you could die while selecting upgrades under Engraved Pin. None of these are common, but all represent moments where the game's rules became unclear or punished players for game design oversights rather than player error. Voiceover and narrative event fixes suggest some dialogue or story beats were skipping or failing to trigger, which affects immersion across multiple encounters.
What's absent here is any balance tuning. This is a stability patch, not a rebalance, which means the meta and build viability remain unchanged from the previous update. If you were struggling with a specific boss or build combination, this patch may fix the underlying bug, but it won't make weak strategies stronger.
