Don't Starve Together Game Update - 740256 Patch Notes (3rd July 2026)
Klei Entertainment has rolled out patch 740256 for Don't Starve Together, addressing several stability issues and refining how heat interacts with Desiccant items.
Patch 740256 lands today with a solid mix of crash fixes and quality-of-life adjustments that should smooth out some persistent friction points.
The standout change is how Desiccant Pouches and Sacks now dry off specifically from controlled heat sources like Fire Pits and Scaled Furnaces, rather than any stray flame. That's a meaningful shift for players managing food preservation, since you'll have clearer control over when and where your desiccants actually work. The Caddy Cap skins gaining compatibility with the Tam o' Shanter is a nice cosmetic win for those invested in hat variety.
On the stability front, Klei's squashed crashes tied to Gilded Knights and the Lurking Nightmare (particularly when it hits players mounted on Beefalo), along with a controller cannon crash that was clearly causing headaches. The Mini-Golf fixes address both visual polish and removal bugs, while the Beefalo duplication issue exiting the Sanctum should ease some frustration for cave explorers. The full list, including fixes for Sick Mini Worm Holes and Pirate Boat persistence, is below.
