This RC:EA:01.03 patch is a maintenance release focused on fixing problems that affect how upgrades and weapons function during live runs. The team is working on Update 2 in parallel, so this is a holding action rather than a feature drop.

The most immediately impactful fix corrects Critical Shot's tooltip, which was claiming it grants 50% crit chance when it actually grants 30%. This matters because players building around crit-heavy strategies were making decisions based on false information. A 20-percentage-point gap is substantial enough to change whether a build feels viable or underwhelming, and whether certain synergies are worth pursuing. Anyone who picked Critical Shot expecting the higher value and then felt disappointed now knows the tool was never broken, just mislabelled.

Two separate expenite upgrade bugs address a frustrating multiplayer problem. The first prevented reroll opportunities from appearing for the next player after someone selected an expenite upgrade, effectively punishing players who picked after a teammate. The second caused some expenite upgrades to fail to apply their effects if the player who selected them was downed at the time. These are the kind of issues that create invisible friction in cooperative runs, where one person's bad luck cascades into another's, or where a downed player's upgrade choice simply vanishes. Fixing both means the upgrade selection phase now works as intended across all game states.

Late joiners not receiving weapons is a progression blocker that could render a new player's run unplayable from the moment they spawn. This fix ensures that players joining mid-mission actually have the tools to contribute, rather than spawning weaponless and forced to spectate or restart.

The workbench update and spawn vector fixes address less visible but still meaningful problems. Workbenches now refresh when a player acquires a new gun after the bench was already opened, preventing the display from showing outdated weapon stats. The spawn vector issue, described as "sometimes getting out of hand", suggests enemy spawns were occasionally overwhelming or appearing in unintended locations when risk modifiers were active. The vague phrasing suggests Ghost Ship isn't certain of the exact cause but has applied a stabilisation measure.

The ALT+Tab crash on Nvidia RTX 40/50 series cards is a stability fix for a specific hardware configuration, which indicates the team is aware of platform-specific issues even in early access. Overall, this patch is a competent housekeeping release that removes friction points without reshaping the game. The real work happens when Update 2 arrives.
