Counter-Strike 2 Update Patch Notes (21st April 2026)

Valve has pushed a small but meaningful CS2 update, bringing recoil camera behaviour closer to CS:GO while fixing several Animgraph 2 animation issues.

Recoil feel has been a sticking point for CS2 players since launch, and Valve is still tuning it. The April 21st update adjusts camera motion due to recoil to match CS:GO more closely, which should feel immediately noticeable to anyone who logged serious hours in the old game. Bullet trajectories remain unchanged on the server side, so your shots still land where CS2 says they do, it's purely the visual feedback getting the CS:GO treatment.

The other notable fix is aim punch from external sources, like taking a hit mid-firefight. Previously, network latency could delay how much your screen kicked when you got shot. Now the full camera motion hits regardless of your connection, which makes getting shot feel more consistent even if it's not always what you want to see.

The Animgraph 2 side of things is smaller: crouch transitions in the air were sometimes snapping instantaneously rather than animating properly, and that's been corrected. MVP panel characters also had a reset bug that's now fixed. Nothing earth-shattering, but the recoil camera change alone will have the r/GlobalOffensive crowd paying close attention.

Everything in the update is listed below.

Full Patch Notes

\[ GAMEPLAY ]

  • Adjusted camera motion due to recoil to match CS:GO more closely. Bullet trajectories should continue to match CS2.
  • Players will now experience the full camera motion due to external sources of aim punch (e.g. getting shot) regardless of network latency. The effects of aim punch on bullet trajectories are still applied immediately on the server.

\[ ANIMGRAPH 2 ]

  • Minor adjustments to viewmodel animations.
  • Fixed several cases where crouch transitions in the air were instantaneous.
  • Fixed a bug where MVP panel characters weren't resetting correctly.
