Counter-Strike 2 Update Patch Notes (20th May 2026)

A small but focused CS2 update lands today, tidying up Cache and Ancient with collision tweaks and a footstep audio fix.

A quiet one today. Valve's latest CS2 update is all about map polish rather than anything meta-shifting, but the Cache changes are more meaningful than they might look on paper.

The footstep audio adjustment on Cache is the one to pay attention to. Valve has tweaked material blending to improve the accuracy of footstep sounds, which in a game where hearing an opponent's position can decide a round, is a competitive fix. The player and grenade collision adjustment on the same map is similarly low-key but useful, especially if you've ever had a nade clip somewhere it shouldn't. Ancient gets a single wall gap closed, which is sounds minor until it's the gap someone was using to peek you through.

Nothing here changes how CS2 plays at a fundamental level, but Valve continuing to action player-reported bugs is the right approach. Here's the full breakdown.
