Core Keeper’s 1.2.1 Update Drops Tomorrow! Patch Notes (5th May 2026)

Core Keeper's 1.2.1 update lands tomorrow with a new Casual character type, long-requested chest labelling, and two new inventory pouches.

Chest labelling has been a community request for a while, and Core Keeper is finally delivering it in tomorrow's 1.2.1 update. It's one of those small quality-of-life additions that anyone who's ever stared at twelve identical chests wondering where they put their ore will immediately appreciate.

The bigger headline for newer players is the new Casual character type, which keeps your inventory on death, reduces hunger drain, and gives you more forgiving parry windows and potion cooldowns. It won't be for everyone, but it's a smart addition that lowers the barrier without touching the core experience for players who want the full challenge. Two new pouches, the Potion Pouch and Critter Pouch, also arrive to free up inventory slots that were previously eaten up by those items. Planter Boxes, Decorative Pots, and biome-specific Aquariums and Terrariums are now paintable too, which is a nice touch for anyone deep into base decoration.

On the modding side, the in-game cursor is being upgraded to use a moddable SpriteAsset, opening up cursor customisation for the modding community. The developers also confirmed they're working on the next major content update and plan to share a revised roadmap when it's ready. Here's the full breakdown.

Full Patch Notes

Surprise! We’ve got a fun little content update coming your way now that you’ve had a chance to explore some of Breaker’s Reach and the new features added in our Void & Voltage Update! Tomorrow’s 1.2.1 Core Keeper update will include some fun gameplay updates, graphics improvements, bug fixes, and more.

Players will be able to choose an all-new “Casual” character type that keeps its inventory after death, has a reduced hunger drain, boasts larger parry windows, and experiences shorter healing and mana potion cooldowns. Perfect for new players or those looking for a more relaxed gameplay experience. Character and world types cannot be changed after they’ve been created, but you can use your characters in multiple worlds if you’re looking to do some testing on gameplay preferences.

The ability to label chests is a community requested feature that has been on our radar for a while now and we’re pleased to report that this will be part of 1.2.1. We love hearing your feedback when it comes to inventory management and we hope the advent of chest labelling scratches an itch for all your organisation loving Explorers.

Speaking of inventory management, we’re also adding two new pouches with this update in the form of the Potion Pouch and Critter Pouch, freeing up the inventory space you’d otherwise reserve for these items – loot goblins, rejoice! We hope you’ll stock up on crafting ingredients for paint brushes because you might want a few on hand when tomorrow’s update lands and you discover that Planter Boxes, Decorative Pots, and biome-specific Aquariums and Terrariums are now paintable.

This minor update also builds on Core Keeper’s modding infrastructure with some technical updates that we’ll go into more detail on in the patch notes! One thing that’s sure to excite modders is that the in-game cursor will be upgraded so that it uses a moddable SpriteAsset, which can be modded via ScriptableData Editor Window! For those less familiar with modding but who might still be interested, this basically means that modders will be able to change what the game’s cursor looks like ✨

All this is just a quick overview of some key features and you can expect the full patch notes when the update launches tomorrow. We’re cooking away behind the scenes and discussing our next major content update (among other things!), and we’ll have some more information and an updated roadmap for you as soon as we’re ready to share. In the meantime, keep an eye on our social media channels for news, information, and teasers.
