Brighter Shores Botanist Bounties Patch Notes (27th July 2026)

Botanist Bounties unlock a new progression tier for the skill, introducing chameleon plants that adapt their form to different growing conditions and fertilisers. Several quality-of-life fixes address long-standing friction points.

Botanist Bounties represent the first structured endgame progression for the skill, gating entry behind milestone 1 Botanist and funnelling players through Davis SeedFinger's bounty board on Timberwell Road. This mirrors how other skills in Brighter Shores unlock bounties at specific progression thresholds, so the framework is familiar, but the execution matters: bounties are how players convert grind into directed goals, and for Botanist they now exist.

Chameleon plants are the mechanical centrepiece. Unlike the fixed-form plants Botanists have grown until now, these adapt their appearance and presumably their properties based on growing conditions and fertiliser type. The patch notes offer no specifics on how many forms exist, which fertilisers unlock which variants, or whether form affects yield, quality, or bounty eligibility. That opacity is intentional. Players will need to experiment or consult the new Chameleon Plant Care Guide, but it also means the skill has gained complexity that existing Botanists will need to relearn. The Fertilizer Emporium stocks new fertiliser types specifically for chameleon cultivation, which suggests a new resource sink and another reason to engage with the economy.

Quality-of-life improvements here are not cosmetic. Tripling coin conversion from knowledge is a direct buff to passive income, particularly for players who have banked knowledge and lacked an use for it. The expanded fishing click area addresses a persistent friction point in that skill, and audio feedback for fully grown plants and ferry use are small but genuine ergonomic wins. The fix to Bonetron bounties awarding too many coins is a correction, not a nerf, though it does mean players who exploited that bug will see their income normalise. The XP display fix for passive chef activities is a transparency improvement rather than a mechanical change, but it matters if players were making decisions based on incorrect information.

What remains unaddressed is how Botanist Bounties scale for players already deep into the skill. The notes confirm bounties exist and some require chameleon plants, but do not specify whether they are gated by level, whether they offer competitive rewards compared to other endgame bounties, or whether they are mandatory for any progression. For a skill that has historically been passive, plant, wait, harvest, the introduction of active bounty work could reshape how the skill feels in practice, but the patch notes do not contextualise that shift. Players will discover the balance through play, but the analysis cannot precede the experience.

Botanist Bounties are now available. Once you are a milestone 1 Botanist, you can start completing Botanist Bounties, including growing Chameleon plants.

Talk to Davis SeedFinger on Timberwell Road to get started. Davis runs a plant store and he's received some very specific orders which he'd like you to fetch via his bounty board.

Some of the orders are for pre-existing botanist plants, but many can only be fulfilled by growing the all new chameleon plants.

Chameleon plants are versatile and can take many different forms, depending on where they are grown and how you treat them. You can look at the new Chameleon Plant Care Guide for more information on how to grow chameleon plants.

The update includes some new types of fertilizer which can be purchased at the Fertilizer Emporium and are used for creating some of the different chameleon plant forms.
