Brawlhalla 10.09 Patch Notes (28th July 2026)

The Shrek crossover lands today with three new Legend skins, Donkey as a Companion, and two fresh Swamp-themed maps. Behind the movie tie-in, Blue Mammoth has quietly fixed several long-standing issues.

Patch 10.09 is a crossover event patch dressed up as one, but the real work here sits in the infrastructure. Yes, Shrek, Fiona, and Puss in Boots are now playable as skins for Xull, Tezca, and Asuri respectively, and Donkey arrives as a Companion. The new Competitive Map (Shrek's Swamp) and FFA Hazard Map (Shrek's Muddy Swamp) give these characters home turf. But the changelog reveals three separate fixes that address friction points players have complained about for months.

The Sandbagger achievement fix is the one that matters most to completionists. This achievement has been unearneable since its introduction, making it impossible for players to reach 100% on their achievement lists. That it took this long to surface and fix suggests either the bug was subtle or it simply wasn't prioritised until now. Players chasing full completion can finally move forward. Separately, Aurus' Down Chakram now properly detects hard platforms when overlapping with soft platforms, a fix that resolves a specific interaction bug that could have cost rounds in competitive play. These aren't headline changes, but they're the kind that stop players from feeling cheated by invisible systems.

The Account Linking UI overhaul is the patch's second pillar. The notes don't elaborate on what changed, but a full redesign of this screen suggests Blue Mammoth identified friction in how players connect their accounts across platforms. Given that Brawlhalla spans PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, account linking is a genuine onboarding bottleneck. Improvements here could reduce support tickets and make platform-hopping smoother. Additionally, Steam Big Picture mode now supports virtual keyboards during input, and the Incorrect Version error popup has been redesigned, both quality-of-life touches for players on non-traditional setups.

The Brawlball bot improvements and console-specific fixes (training mode numbers on Switch, B-button queue bug on Xbox, PlayStation store sync lag) show Blue Mammoth working through a backlog of platform-specific issues. None of these are game-altering, but collectively they reduce the friction of playing across hardware. The memory improvements for how Legends render on Nintendo Switch suggest the team is optimising for the platform's constraints.

What's absent is any balance change. This is purely a content and infrastructure patch. The crossover skins don't alter how their base Legends play, and the new maps are thematic rather than competitive shakeups. For players waiting on Legend rebalancing or meta shifts, this patch passes them by entirely. The free weekly titles ("Get Ogre Yourself," "Not Your Average Damsel," "El Gato Con Botas") offer cosmetic rewards through July and August, but they're cosmetic only. This patch prioritises onboarding smoothness and achievement completion over competitive depth.
