Borderlands 4 Weekly Update Notes (14th May 2026)
Grenade builds get a significant boost this week, plus Gearbox is running a special Quadruple Threat Big Encore Boss event to celebrate a designer's birthday.
Grenade builds just got a lot more interesting. This week's Borderlands 4 update is headlined by a wave of Grenade Ordnance buffs, with several weapons seeing damage jumps that should push them from situational picks into viable options.
The standout is the Jakobs Spinning Blade, which landed a +200% damage increase. Gearbox's own dev note acknowledges the skill ceiling involved in catching the knife after a hit, so the reward for pulling it off needed to match the effort. The Ripper Grenade Buoy also jumped by +150%, with the devs admitting its activation range wasn't working as intended in actual combat. On top of that, the Destructo Disco's Groove ability damage doubled, and the Daedalus Buzz Axe climbed by +50%. If you've been sleeping on grenade-focused builds, this is a reasonable moment to revisit them.
The update also introduces Borderlands 4's first-ever Quadruple Threat for Big Encore Bosses, framed as a birthday celebration for Robby, the designer behind the Weekly Big Encore setup. A developer birthday doubling as a community event is a nice touch. Restart your game to make sure the update applies correctly and avoid matchmaking issues. Everything in the update is listed below.
Full Patch Notes
This Weekly Update includes more gear balancing changes for Grenade Ordnance, as well as our first-ever Quadruple Threat for Big Encore Bosses! Consider this a Birthday Boss Bash for Robby, the designer who sets up Weekly Big Encore Bosses and wanted to celebrate by slaying some Fadefields favorites.
Please restart your game to ensure that the update goes through and to prevent connection errors in matchmaking.

Change Notes
- Daedalus Assault Rifle Mercredi is now properly scaling with increases to Gun Damage and Assault Rifle damage
- Ripper Grenade Buoy has received a +150% damage increase
- Dev Note: The activation range and proximity check has proven to not be as practical in combat as we were targeting. As a result, we’ve added a dramatic increase to the damage to better fit players using it as a short-range burst of damage.
- Dev Note: We acknowledge the skill test required to catch the knife after landing a hit, and have increased the damage dramatically to reward the gameplay loop.
