The Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition matchmaking servers are going down Wednesday, July 8 for routine maintenance. The window runs from 2:00pm PT / 5:00pm ET / 21:00 UTC, with expected downtime lasting 1-2 hours.

Ranked matchmaking will be disabled exactly one hour before the maintenance begins to prevent newly-formed matches from being disrupted mid-game. If you're in the middle of a match when the servers go live, you'll be booted out, so the platform team recommends finishing any games at least 10 minutes before the window opens. You'll still be able to launch the game during maintenance, but you won't access matchmaking, mod services, or any online features across Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, Age of Empires II, Age of Empires III, and Age of Empires IV.

Check the official Steam announcement for any schedule changes or the all-clear when servers return.

DETAILS

This coming Wednesday, July 8th, the platform team will be taking the multiplayer servers down for regular maintenance. Please note:
  • During the maintenance window, mod services will be down for all games.
  • Ranked matchmaking will disabled exactly one hour before the maintenance window to prevent disruption to newly-formed matches.
  • Any matches still in progress at the start of the maintenance window will be disrupted when it begins.
  • DURING THE MAINTENANCE WINDOW, YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO LAUNCH THE GAME, BUT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MATCHMAKE OR ACCESS ANY ONLINE FEATURES.

To prevent any interruptions, we recommend wrapping up any games at least 10 minutes before the maintenance window. The downtime is expected to last between 1 and 2 hours. You can watch this thread with any changes to the schedule as they arise, as well as the all-clear when the maintenance is complete.
