Warner Bros. Discovery has openly stated that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League did not achieve the success they had hoped for, as highlighted in a recent financial discussion. This revelation was initially brought to light by IGN, pointing to a statement made during the company's financial briefing.

Gunnar Wiedenfels, the Chief Financial Officer, specifically mentioned the game's performance following its launch on February 2nd, priced at $70. The announcement was part of Warner Bros. Discovery's disclosure of their earnings for the fourth quarter and the entirety of 2023.

Released in January 2024, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League received a lukewarm reception from critics and has been struggling with "generally unfavorable" ratings from players on Metacritic, where it currently holds a dismal score of 3.7. This poor reception has undoubtedly played a role in the game's disappointing performance.

The game's launch was marred by significant issues, including a bug that prematurely completed the game for players. In response, developer Rocksteady offered Early Access players $20 in in-game currency as compensation for the inconvenience.

Despite these challenges, Warner Bros. Games has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for 2024, promising the introduction of Season 1 in March. This update is set to bring additional boss battles, new enemy types, villain-themed weaponry, and more, sparking speculation among fans about future content.

The earnings report also highlighted a significant increase in games revenue, largely attributed to the success of Hogwarts Legacy, especially following its Q4 release on the Nintendo Switch.

David Zaslav, President and CEO of Warner Bros., expressed optimism about the company's future, citing a "solid footing" and a "clear pathway to growth." He also announced plans to enhance the creative pipeline across the company's film and TV studios, though no specific mention was made regarding the gaming sector.
