Season 12 of Sea of Thieves is right around the corner, and it's set to be one of the most exciting seasons yet. With the release date scheduled for April 30, 2024, players are eagerly anticipating the new content and updates that will be introduced in this season. One of the biggest highlights of Season 12 is the launch of Sea of Thieves on PS5, bringing in a whole new wave of players to the game.

The release of Sea of Thieves on PS5 is a significant event for the game. Players who pre-order the game will have the opportunity to play the closed beta from April 12 to 15, 2024, with early access starting on April 25, 2024, for those who pre-order the Premium Edition. The PS5 version of the game will offer the same thrilling pirate experience as the PC and Xbox versions, while also expanding the player base and community.

Developer Rare has outlined the new content and updates coming to Sea of Thieves in Season 12. The introduction of two new weapons and three new tools aims to refresh the gameplay experience and encourage players to try out different strategies. The new additions include:

  • Double-Barreled Flintlock: A pistol with two barrels that can fire more shots than the basic pistol. You can fire two shots before reloading or charge the weapon for a single powerful shot that uses both barrels.
  • Throwing Knives: Knives that players can throw to attack enemies from afar with something slightly more accurate and recoverable. These sharp implements can also be used for quick melee attacks or charged for stronger stabs against other players.
  • Wind Caller: A horn-shaped shell that players blow into to summon the power of the wind. This gives them wind to fill their sails and speed even against the wind at full speed. It also works for pushing enemy players away or as a form of propulsion in the sea when stuck in the water.
  • Scattershot: A collection of four cannonballs that are smaller and have a shorter range than standard ones, but hit targets with multiple projectiles and cause several small holes for players to repair. It can quickly overwhelm an enemy ship and make them easier to beat.
  • Bone Caller: A new throwable for players to wield. Once it detonates, skeletons will spawn around the player in that area and fight for them.

In addition to these new items, players can also expect improvements to existing tools, such as the ability to balance on Harpoon Lines. Furthermore, ziplines will be scattered across the islands in Sea of Thieves, providing faster traversal, easier ship access, and escape routes from enemies. All these additions promise to enhance the overall gameplay experience and keep players engaged for hours on end.

With Season 12 just around the corner, anticipation is high for what's to come in Sea of Thieves. Whether you're a seasoned pirate or a new adventurer, there's something for everyone in this upcoming season. Get ready to set sail and embark on new adventures in the vast and thrilling world of Sea of Thieves!
