Xbox Game Studios’ highly popular pirate-themed co-op multiplayer game, Sea of Thieves, made waves last month by becoming the best-selling game on the digital PlayStation Store in Europe.
According to the official PlayStation Blog, Sea of Thieves claimed the number 1 spot in the top 20 most downloaded PS5 games in Europe, excluding free-to-play titles.
Despite the stiff competition, Sea of Thieves managed to secure the third position in the US and Canada, following Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade. It was accompanied by other popular Microsoft titles such as Modern Warfare 3 and Grounded in the top 10 rankings.
Sea of Thieves was initially launched for Xbox One and PC in March 2018, making it the first exclusive title from Microsoft to debut on Xbox Game Pass simultaneously with its retail release.
As part of a significant announcement by Xbox in February, Sea of Thieves was among the former Xbox console exclusives that were made available on other consoles.
The game's release on PS5 in Europe last month, with the addition of cross-play support, enabled players to engage in thrilling pirate adventures alongside existing Xbox and PC players.
