Recently, it was announced that players of Helldivers 2 on Steam will be required to link their accounts to a PlayStation Network account. This decision has sparked controversy and raised concerns among the gaming community, especially after a player in China lost access to the game due to linking their account to a PlayStation Network profile that was created using a VPN.

Creating a PlayStation Network account in regions where it is not officially supported, like China, can lead to account access issues. While some players may try to create accounts via regions like Hong Kong, there are risks associated with this approach, including potential account termination by Sony.

According to reports, Sony is in discussions with Arrowhead Game Studios, the developer of Helldivers 2, to address this issue. However, there is no clear timeline for a resolution, leaving players in a state of uncertainty.

Concerns have also been raised about the impact of this account linking requirement on the player base and the upcoming in-game events, such as the Warbond event "Polar Patriots." Players are expressing their frustrations and some may even seek refunds or legal action in response to these changes.
