In a move towards the final development stages of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar Games has purportedly mandated a full-time office return for its staff. According to Bloomberg, Rockstar's head of publishing, Jenn Kolbe, has conveyed to her team the company's intent to halt the hybrid working scheme. The primary reasons center around enhancing productivity and assuring the security of their operations, with Rockstar firmly believing that on-site work delivers sizable advantages.

There was a significant security breach in September 2022 where hackers managed to release an hour's worth of Grand Theft Auto 6 development footage on the internet. This unintended reveal served as the gamer community's initial sneak peek into the eagerly awaited successor to one of the highest-grossing games in history.

Adding to these incidents, last December saw Rockstar prematurely launch the first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer following an online leak. "These timely modifications put us in the optimal position to produce the upcoming Grand Theft Auto with the expected level of quality and refinement, alongside a publishing schedule that aligns with the game's magnitude and vision," Kolbe said in an email to her team.

The video game industry pivoted towards remote work amidst the Covid pandemic in 2020. Still, certain studios have begun reverting to their previous on-site working models. Notably, the first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer garnered a staggering 90 million views within the first 24 hours.

Along with a target launch date in 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms, the announcement confirmed a portion of the narrative will unravel in Vice City, a fictitious rendition of Miami. The gripping storyline will introduce a duo of central characters, marking a series-first with a female protagonist.
