Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the highly-anticipated follow-up to the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy 7 Remake, seems to be facing some challenges in the commercial space. According to industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, the game is underperforming sales wise compared to its predecessor, the Remake. Despite high expectations and fan enthusiasm, Rebirth has not been able to match the stellar sales numbers of the original release.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which debuted on the PS4 in April 2020, garnered significant success with over 3.5 million shipments in its first three days. In contrast, Rebirth, released on the PS5, has not been able to replicate that level of success, selling about half of what Remake achieved in the same timeframe. This dip in sales has raised concerns about the game's future performance and overall reception among the gaming community.

Despite these challenges, there is still hope for Final Fantasy fans. Square Enix, the publisher behind the series, recently provided an update on the final part of the Remake trilogy. In an interview with the Ultimania book, Rebirth's creative director, Tetsuya Nomura, revealed that the main story of the third game has been completed, hinting at progress towards its eventual release. Voice recording is expected to begin soon, marking a significant milestone in the development process.

Yoshinori Kitase, the series producer, emphasized the importance of team continuity in delivering quality games. By retaining a dedicated team for Rebirth and the upcoming third part, Square Enix aims to complete the trilogy within a similar timeframe. This commitment to consistency and quality bodes well for the future of the Final Fantasy 7 series and the continuation of its captivating storyline.

While Rebirth may be facing commercial challenges, the loyal fan base and dedicated development team behind the game are determined to overcome these obstacles and deliver an unforgettable gaming experience. With the final part of the trilogy on the horizon, the future of Final Fantasy 7 looks promising, filled with exciting adventures and unexpected twists that will continue to captivate players around the world.
