Ex-Battlefield Director Shares Negative Views on EA Following Departure

Former Battlefield director, Marcus Lehto, recently took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction with his former employer, EA, following his departure from the company in February. In a tweet, Lehto said

"Not been saying much here since I don't have anything positive to say about EA, my recent departure, and how so many, including my team, are suffering due to the industry sweeping layoffs."

Lehto's departure came just a day before EA announced a 5% reduction in its global workforce, which included the closure of Ridgeline Studios, responsible for the single-player development of the Battlefield franchise. Laura Miele, president of EA Entertainment and Technology, suggested that Lehto's exit played a role in the studio's closure, stating,

"Marcus Lehto recently made a personal decision to leave the project. To ensure our work continues uninterrupted, we immediately appointed leadership at Criterion to oversee our single-player work. As part of this change, we'll be winding down Ridgeline as a standalone studio in Seattle, with some team members joining Ripple Effect"

It's clear that Lehto's departure had a significant impact on both the company and the development of the Battlefield franchise. The question remains, what led to such a fallout between the former director and EA? Only time will tell how this story unfolds.
