Last year marked a significant victory for Activision Blizzard in the ongoing battle against cheating in gaming. EngineOwning, a prominent cheat provider, was initially ordered to pay a substantial $3 million in damages in a legal case.

The legal saga continued, with a recent ruling now requiring EngineOwning to compensate Activision Blizzard with approximately $15 million, including legal fees. This decision stemmed from EngineOwning's persistent efforts to circumvent Activision Blizzard's anti-cheat systems, underscoring the gaming giant's commitment to maintaining fair play.

In a significant blow to EngineOwning, the court also mandated the surrender of the EngineOwning domain to Activision Blizzard, further cementing the repercussions of engaging in illicit gaming practices.

The legal proceedings shed light on the extensive scale of EngineOwning's impact on the gaming community, with numerous gamers implicated for utilizing the cheat software. Notably, the lawsuit exposed several content creators who were implicated in the use of EngineOwning's cheating tools, tarnishing their reputations in the process.

According to court records, EngineOwning's software was downloaded over 72,000 times in the United States alone, leading to the court's justification of the substantial damages sought by Activision Blizzard. Legal costs, including attorney fees, soared to $292,912, reflecting the gravity of the case.

EngineOwning has offered cheating solutions across various popular titles such as Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, Battlefield, and Titanfall since 2014. The company even provided a hardware ID spoofer, enabling users to evade anti-cheat mechanisms, including hardware bans imposed by advanced security systems.

While this legal victory represents a notable setback for cheat providers, the battle against gaming malpractice continues. The prevalence of cheating tools in the gaming industry resembles a complex challenge, akin to facing a multi-faceted adversary.
